Center for Career Development: Career Communities

Dickinson is excited to introduce its innovative Career Communities model, designed to connect students with industry-specific pathway advisors. This initiative offers personalized pathways, enabling students to explore various career fields, gain relevant experience and build professional networks.

"Dickinson students thrive personally, professionally and academically," says Melissa Sturm-Smith, senior associate provost, integrated student academic success, "and it starts from day one."

By participating in these communities, students can align their academic pursuits with their career aspirations, ensuring a comprehensive and targeted approach to professional development. The Career Communities model underscores Dickinson's commitment to providing tailored support and resources, empowering students to navigate their career journeys with confidence and purpose.

"What career centers tend to do well is that they do resumes, they do cover letters, they do interviewing," says Annie Kondas, executive director of Dickinson's Center for Career Development. "We do all of that, but what we also do is say that we know that the economy shifts, and we are able to stay agile to the fields, and so our career pathways are always moving and changing."
